Skips and freezes

Download works fine on the phone itself.. Went and purchased a new flat screen tv, wall mount and cable to use the round timer for our kickboxing classes and the timer skips every 2 to 4 seconds and freezes up all the time. Not sure what the problem is. Definitely not happy with almost $400 invested in equip and to not have it work properly....
